Program installation instructions and PC requirements for Sims 2 Multi-Langual CD version

Please note the games requirements before continuing.

If your computer "auto starts" the installation when cd disk #1 is inserted, cancel the process before continuing by closing the installation program.

If "????" appear on the buttons, you'll select the right button to cancel as shown below. Then, select "Yes" or left button to cancel the install.

Next, If you do not have the floppy disk English configuration utility, or if your computer does not have a floppy disk drive, follow the manual installation instructions (below) for floppyless installation instructions.

English Configuration from Floppy Disk

The following screen shots are the step by step instructions for English configuration by floppy disk

Assuming Disk #1 is in your cdrom drive, insert the floppy disk into your disk drive. Go to "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" and select Drive "A:" Double click on "Run.bat" file located on the floppy disk to start the installation.

Next, you will see a screen prompting you to continue, press any key to start the installation.

Copying the setup files for installation will take a 3-5 minutes depending on the speed of your cdrom and requires 700mb of free space on your C drive.

When completed, the program will automatically start the Sims 2 installation in English.

Manual or Floppyless Installation Instructions

Assuming you've already placed your Sims 2 CD into your cdrom player, select your cdrom drive from "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer". You'll see a list of files contained on the disk as shown above. Next, select "Edit", "Select All" from the menu.

Now, select "Edit", "Copy".

Next, select the hard drive "C:", "D:", etc. that has at least 700MB of free space. My hard drive "C:" is named IOMEGA_HDD "Grey highlight" but yours will be named something different. Then, select "File", "New", "Folder" from the menu.

Name your "New Folder" SIM2 as shown above.

With the "SIM2" directory, selected on the left side of the window, as shown above, Go to the menu and select "Edit", "Paste". Windows will start copying the cd disk 1 into the SIM2 directory as shown below.

When the process is completed, Download this file "Autorun.cfg", Right click here, and select "Save Target As" and place it in your SIM2 sub directory called "AutoRun" as shown below: Full path c:\SIM2\AutoRun.

Change "Save as type" from "Text Document" to "All Files" as shown below. Then, select the "Save" button.

When prompted to overwrite the existing file. Select "Yes" to overwrite as shown below.

Almost finished!

To complete the English setup, select the SIM2 directory on the left side, as shown above, Highlighted in grey. Scroll down on the right side, and find the file called Setup.exe. Double click on the file to start the Sims 2 installation.

Minimum System Requirements for The Sims 2

If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM while using either Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000, you'll need at least: 800 MHz processor or better 256 MB RAM with at least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) while using either Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000 then you need at least: 2.0 GHz processor or better 256 MB RAM with at least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

Get the most current driver for your video card. The manufacturers usually have the video drivers on their sites for you to download. Visit the nVidia site, the ATI site or the support site for your computer's manufacturer for the latest drivers for those video cards.
